How many times a book can be renewed depends both on the loan period of the item you are renewing, and on your membership:

Undergraduates are allowed 15 renewals on standard and 7 day loan items and 6 renewals on 3 day loan items.

Staff, Research Postgraduates and Taught Postgraduates have unlimited renewals.

Alumni are allowed 12 renewals on 14-day, 15 renewals on 7-day loan items and 6 renewals on 3-day loan items.

Renewals can be made via My Library Account. If you reach the maximum renewals you should return your books to the Library. If no one has reserved them, you will be able to borrow them again and start from zero renewals. If you are unable to visit the library, or need further information, get in touch using one of the Contact Us options.

Before leaving the University for vacation or any other extended period, please check the number of renewals still available for any items that are not issued for the full vacation period. Where necessary, return the books and re-issue them, to start again from zero renewals. Be aware that any items not issued for the vacation period can be reserved by other users and you would then not be able to renew them.

One-day loans and items reserved by another user cannot be renewed.
